Police: Man arrested in connection with Albemarle coin shop owner's slaying
By Kathryn Burcham Court records show an Albemarle man plotted for years to rob and kill an elderly store owner. Albemarle detectives detailed Ryan Efird's plans in a search warrant filed Wednesday at the Stanly County courthouse. Detectives have been searching for weeks for a suspect in the fatal shooting of Eldridge Roger Gibson, 81, during a robbery at the B&G Coins Shop on West Main Street near Highway 73. |

Warrant Issued in Fake Silver Scam
The Bossier Financial Crimes Task Force has secured criminal arrest warrants for a woman accused of selling bogus silver bars to a local business. Monique Marie Reyna, of Corpus Christi, Texas, faces charges of felony theft by fraud and forgery for selling more than 500 bogus one ounce silver bars last month to a local business for nearly $6,500. Detectives were able to identify Reyna from evidence they obtained in the course of their investigation and are in contact with Texas authorities in an effort to locate her. |
